Brewville is located In Hanover County, just off of Rt 301 in the strip-style shopping mall near the Rutland housing development. It is not a difficult place to get to, situated between the Kroger grocery store and Marty's Grill, and there is plenty of parking in the area (though, if you arrive during busy shopping hours, you might walk a couple hundred feet to get to the front door). The store is clean, the people are friendly, and they allow you to taste the beers prior to making a purchase. The selection is interesting; a couple dozen taps with local favorites like Stone and Hardywood, and a nice selection of others. I believe that Brewville allows you to bring your own growlers in to be filled (double-check to make sure), but we did not have any. So, to start the experience we agreed to purchase two 32 ounce glass growlers at a one-time cost of $5/each. That seems reasonable; they are ours to keep, and we can reuse them as needed just about anywhere we might go. However, that was about where the reasonableness got lost in translation (at least for us). We asked for those growlers to be filled with a couple, nice Richmond selections (proven to be yummy, via the taste test) and our out-the-door cost was about $37. Subtract the $10 one-time growler purchase charge, and the beer came to about $27. 32 ounces x 2 = 64 ounces. 64 ounces divided by 12 = 5.3334 twelve ounce beers $27 for 5.334 twelve ounce beers = a bit over $5 per beer ... $5 per beer would be $30 per six-pack Yes, I know this is tapped beer and it just tastes better than bottled stuff, but Wow. Yes, it is hard to find this eclectic selection in any single establishment, but we have tasted many of the selections before and have done so at local places or the actual source, usually during a happy hour, with happy hour pricing, and with glasses holding a bit more than 12 ounces. Nice place. Friendly people. Interesting and tasty selection. Pricing, which we understand is typical of these types of establishments, beyond what we are willing to fork out. Maybe if we lived downtown NYC, LA, Miami or SanFran...
